Workshop Outline

Week One: Where To Start
So, you’ve written a book and have made the decision to self-publish. Or perhaps you’re curious to know more about it and are unsure if it’s the right path for you. It can seem a daunting prospect to do it all yourself, but there’s plenty of help at hand.

The first decision to make is whether you’re going to do it yourself through a self-publishing company like Amazon KDP or IngramSpark, or whether you’d like someone to do all or part of it for you. Companies like Troubador and Silverwood Books offer self-publishing services and can do a lot of the work for you. But it comes at a price.

During the first session we’ll look at the pros and cons of each.

Week Two: Getting Down To The Detail
If you decide to self-publish, you’ll have total control over your book, including its cover, format, the price you want readers to pay and so on. It’s exciting, but you may wonder how you go about it. How do you get from your manuscript to a published book? Don’t worry; there are step-by-step guides which take you through everything you need to do.

But there’s more to it than just getting your book ready for publication. You also need to think about marketing and connecting with your readers.

In the second session, we’ll cover the steps required to ready your book for publication, including the cover design and formatting. We’ll also take a look at how you can begin to build an audience for your book.
