Platinum Jubilee Poetry Competition

It’s a big year for Her Majesty The Queen, Britain's longest reigning Monarch, so we thought we’d join in the celebrations with a free to enter poetry competition.

Theme: The Platinum Jubilee

Prize: Publication on The Writers Bureau's website and a course or place on a Zoom workshop of the winner's choice.

Please read the following rules carefully before submitting your entry.

  1. The competition is free to enter. There is no limit on the number of entries competitors may send.

  2. Poems must not exceed 30 lines. All work must be in English.

  3. Work must follow the theme of the Platinum Jubilee and should not have been previously published.

  4. The winner will be notified by email and will receive a course or a place on a Zoom workshop of their choice. This must be claimed within 12 months of winning.

  5. The author’s name must not appear on any work but should only be in the covering email.

  6. Copyright remains with the author but the prize winner must give permission to have the work on The Writers Bureau website for a period of up to twelve months.

  7. We are sorry but we cannot enter into correspondence about submitted entries or the judge’s decision.

  8. Please send a 50-100 word “author biog” with your entry.

  9. Entries that do not comply with the rules will be disqualified.

  10. Current employees of The Writers Bureau are not eligible to enter the competition.

  11. The Judge will be Susie Busby, Principal of The Writers Bureau.

The writer’s name, address and telephone number should not appear on the entry but in the covering email. Type ‘Jubilee Competition’ in the subject line. Include your contact details and biog in the body of your email and attach your entry, saved as a Rich Text File (.rtf) or Word document, to your email. Do not include your name in the attachment.
