One-session online workshop, 1 - 1.5 hours per session, live teaching, via Zoom.

The length of the sessions varies depending on the session topic and the questions and discussions that arise. Sessions will be a minimum of one hour.

Rob Keeley

Rob Keeley is an award-winning author of children's novels, short stories and picture books, including the Spirits series. Other credits include the award-listed stage play Mr. Everyone, the murder mystery Death At Friar's Inn, and Chain Gang and Newsjack for BBC Radio. He holds author workshops in schools and libraries, and teaches Creative Writing to children and adults.

Workshop Outline:

In this workshop you will look at the different viewpoints available to an author of children's fiction, examples of these, then carry out a short writing exercise on this with a child as the central character.

Notes will be sent to you prior to the workshop starting so you can prepare for the meeting.

This workshop is run by Budding Writers in partnership with The Writers Bureau.

By taking part in this workshop you will:

  • meet other writers on the same journey as you

  • have time to ask questions

  • discuss how to use point of view in children's stories

  • have the chance to practise using point of view

  • gain increased self-confidence to take your writing forward on your own.
