Workshop Outline

Every story is seen through someone’s eyes. Usually, this is one of the characters. Sometimes events are seen from the viewpoint of several of them, taking turns as the plot progresses. The story can also be told using the author’s voice, or some omniscient, probably fictional, authority. The viewpoint you choose can have a significant effect on many aspects of your story.

Week 1: The Importance Of Point of View In this session you will think about whose story you are telling, how your point of view character affects the plot. theme and the tone of your story. You'll then examine the different narrative points of view you can use.

Week 2: Changing The Point Of View In this session you’ll look at zooming in and out within point of view, switching point of view between characters, and using multiple viewpoints.
