  • Improve your writing with feedback from your fellow writers

  • Develop your editors eye and help others be better writers

  • A maximum of ten people

Workshop Outline

There is no need to struggle with your writing on your own. One of the best ways of improving your work is to share it with other writers for supportive feedback and informed critiques. In this six-week workshop you will submit your story or article to others in the group who will give their reactions, opening a clearer route to rewrites for you. Everyone will take their turn, so you won't need to send in something every week. You will find that giving feedback to other people's work is a great way to improve your own. You'll also find that you will develop a wonderful sense of camaraderie with the others.

Short story and article writers, novelists and life writers are all welcome.

This workshop is run by Budding Writers in partnership with The Writers Bureau.

Workshop Leader

Tony Kirwood

Tony’s short stories have appeared in numerous publications and have been awarded or shortlisted for prizes. He has also contributed articles for The Independent, Writing Magazine, and many other newspapers and magazines. In an earlier life his comedy sketches were broadcast on UK and European TV and radio. His non-fiction book “How To Write Comedy” was cited by The Stage newspaper as the training book of the year.

Tony teaches creative writing in colleges and venues across the country. He has led workshops at book festivals and given talks to writing groups.

By taking part in this workshop you will:

  • meet other writers looking to improve

  • have time to ask questions as there are only ten participants per group

  • submit work of your choosing up to 1000 words for constructive feedback

  • give feedback on other people's work helping you learn how to look critically at your own writing

  • gain increased self-confidence to take your writing forward on your own.
